Shelter Program
Stepping
Stones Shelter provides homeless men, women and children the
opportunity to regain their independence by offering food
and shelter in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. Our shelter
program offers shelter, clothing, food, case management and
support services. The support services are designed to provide
hope for the future, strengthen
family values and enable
self-sufficiency. The
shelter offers on-site educational seminars, the STEP parenting
program and family oriented living, as described below.

Family Oriented Living: Family Style Dining and Family Activities
The dinner hour creates a wonderful opportunity
for our families to spend quality time together, fostering
communication between parent and child, parent and parent,
and also between the children. For many of these children,
it is the first time that they have sat down to eat with their
parents. The traditional family dinner is a perfect time and
place to focus on what is important: our families.
In addition,
family activies (planned on a monthly basis) ensure that the
children and their parents will get to spend extended periods
of quality time together. Thanks to the generosity of others,
our families have been able to attend the circus, the Ice
Capades, the Baltimore Aquarium, local dance performances,
and more. Entertainment options such as these provide a valuable
outlet for the constant stress brought on by homelessness.
